The busy schedule of summer fixtures continues throughout August for Adults, however the Juniors’ section slows down with the start of the school summer holidays.

Fortunately, our busy summer schedule did not suffer any disruption from the heavy showers in early June and our Junior and Senior members have been enjoying practising and playing cricket in some lovely conditions so far. We have been pleased to welcome many new members across all sections of the Club.

We are hoping the dry spring weather we have experienced so far is staying with us at the cricket club – and not going to be succeeded by long spells of summer rain!

The good weather in April has enabled our outdoor training to commence. The Senior players are training on a Thursday evening at the David Roth Cricket Ground – the square has been prepared for the first of our pre-season friendlies

Following on from the indoor training over the Winter, both Junior and Senior sections of the Club plan to commence their outdoor training at the David Roth Cricket Ground in Easton during April, weather permitting.

Preseason preparation is now underway and we welcome any interested adults and children to make contact with the club if they would like to play, coach or support the cricket club this year.

Francis John Hobbs, September 1927 – February 2022 

Ninety-four years ago, Francis Hobbs was born in Easton, just a stone-throw from the cricket ground in ‘Chapel Lane’, in one of the Council houses that his father, a carpenter, had helped to build.

HAMPSHIRE CRICKET LEAGUE – BEST GROUND COMPETITION 2021

48 Hampshire cricket grounds were nominated for HCL’s ‘Best Ground Competition’ in October this year; voting was on Twitter and open to anyone using social media.

Derrick “Dumpty” Fullick

Sadly, on 1st October we then lost one of our founding members, Derrick Fullick (or Dumpty to many) at the age of 82. He was well known to generations of cricket players and members, having only recently stepped back from an active role in the club due to his ill health.

Ladies & Girls End of Season Cricket Celebration

On Sunday 12th September we celebrated our Girls & Ladies Cricket Teams’ season. We were fortunate the rain held off despite the threatening clouds, enabling an undisturbed afternoon of cricket and fun.

75th Anniversary Celebration

On a sunny Sunday afternoon (September 5th 2021) EMWCC held an interclub friendly 30 over game between its Club Legends and Current Players to celebrate its 75th anniversary. The event was well attended by former players and friends of the Club, who enjoyed the fine weather, a BBQ and the bar.
